Review: OrganiCup

Deciding to buy a cup...

The first time I heard about menstrual cups was from a sticker in a public toilet. I had no idea what it was so I looked it up online when I got home. They seemed great but I was too scared to try one because I had never heard anyone talk about them. Months later my friend said she was thinking of trying one so we spontaneously ordered ourselves an OrganiCup.

First time...

I was actually really scared to try the cup for the first time. It seemed really big and I was just so scared it was going to hurt. I had also read so many horror stories so I was expecting the worst but I still wanted to give it a go. I followed the instructions to boil the cup in order to sterilise it then I tried it. Surprisingly it didn't hurt at all! Taking it out wasn't a problem either. It took me a few tries to make sure it sat right which was a little bit tricky so I wore a panty liner just in case of leakages. But I've been using it for months now and never had any problems or accidents.

The worst thing...

I don't really have anything bad to say about my experience of using a menstrual cup. The only thing that is a bit of an inconvenience is when I need to empty it and wash it at a public toilet. I personally clean it in the toilet cubicle with tissue then sneakily rinse it under the tap and go back to the toilet. Not great but I don't really mind. I've heard some brands suggest taking a bottle of water with you into the toilet cubicle to clean it. OrganiCup also sells OrganiWipes which I think I am going to buy. So OrganiCup are providing ways to solve this inconvenience. And I would rather this small inconvenience than know how much waste I am producing by using single-use, disposable sanitary products. To me it's not really a big deal.

The best thing...

It's so easy! I often dread my period but at the end of my cycle having used my OrganiCup I look back and think I hardly even noticed I had my period. OrganiCups are also great to use whilst exercising. From surfing and running to cycling and horse riding my OrganiCup has never failed me. Plus I am saving so much money and producing a lot less waste!

So...

I'm a total fan of menstrual cups and would never go back! To me its a no brainer. There just needs to be more talk about it. Too many people don't know about them so we need to get the word out and make a difference one cup at a time!
